There are number of reasons why I decided to apply to go on this challenge…
While my life hasn’t been directly affected by breast cancer, over the last 3-4 years the most important women (and girl) in my life have battled their fair share of health problems. We seem to have spent more time in hospital than out of it and I just wanted to show them all how proud of them I am and how important they are to me.
Secondly, as some of you may or may not know, I suffered a back injury that required surgery which forced me to stop several sporting activities I have done for years. I’m pleased to say that I am finally feeling like myself again and while I haven’t returned to those activities yet, I have been able to resume fairly strenuous exercise at the gym and if I can survive 5 days in the Transylvanian Alps that will be some achievement considering where I was 2 years ago.
All of this with the added bonus of raising money for a great charity that could genuinely save lives of both women and men. While CoppaFeel primarily focuses on breast cancer education, they also instigated the #RETHINKCANCER Campaign, to educate all young people about all cancers and encourage them to get to know their bodies in the hope that cancers are diagnosed at the earliest stage possible.
Your donations will help stamp out the late diagnosis of breast cancer. So please give whatever you can!
I’ll be blogging about my training and experience at https://www.scotts-transylvania-trek.com
